• Familiar with Community Resources

Have:

• General knowledge of breast cancer, treatments and reconstruction

• Understanding of the diagnosis process

• Compassion and empathy for anyone going through the breast cancer process

Understand

• Understand the history and the mission of the Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC)

• Rules such as HIPAA and our policy on referring to physicians

• The relationship between the BCRC and the Susan G. Komen Foundation

• BCRC staff and their responsibilities

Provide

• Strong, compassionate peer support to those that you have been assigned.

• Quick response to the client needs

• Director of Volunteer Services written Client Information forms after every interaction.

• Appropriate information to clients
