Want to Help?

Our most valuable resource? Volunteers & Donations!

Simply put, without them we couldn’t exist. If you are interested in volunteering for the BCRC, please contact Phyllis Rose, Director of Volunteer Services at (512) 544-0905 for more information or email her at prose@bcrc.org.

We are always looking for volunteers in the following areas:

Upcoming events
Check out our events page for upcoming opportunities to help out with events.

Office and clerical help at all locations
These opportunities include keeping our libraries organized, data entry, preparing and sending out donor letters and other correspondence.

Oncology practices
Volunteers are trained to help and serve clients while they are receiving their infusions. Depending upon the location, volunteers serve tea, coffee, snacks, etc. to clients, offer hand massages and other help.

Totes
Volunteers put together wellness totes and deliver totes to medical practices.

Health and volunteer fairs
Volunteers set up and man table and talk with people attending the fair about our mission, how we help our clients, hand out info and encourage people to sign up to volunteer.

Pillows, camisoles and caps
Volunteer groups make pillows, camisoles and caps.

Caregiver/partner website
Male volunteer to develop and facilitate NING site for partners/caregivers.

Outreach to various ethnic communities
Volunteers who are fluent and connected can help with outreach within various ethnic groups the BCRC are not currently serving (Asian, Indian, etc.) and can help with translation if need be.

Grant writing
Volunteers can help Alice with grant writing needs and will gain an understanding of the overall process of grant development from research through budgeting and narrative generation. Volunteers in this area will have specific grants that they can list on their resume.

Canvassing
Volunteers can gather a group or family members to take information into the community three to four times a year such as free mammogram program, etc. to various places such as churches, laundromats, grocery stores, offices and other appropriate outlets.

Randall’s speaking engagements
Volunteers can help staff during September and October to speak to Randall’s employees about the donation program and what they mean to us.

Childcare
Volunteers will help with childcare at PRC lunches, educational events and trained volunteers can help clients during infusion.
