Five Patient Navigators certified

Written by Runi Limary Posted on April 24th, 2009 | Email This Post

The Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas is pleased to announce that their five Patient Navigators are all certified through the Harold Freeman Institute. Patient navigation, a concept pioneered by Dr. Freeman in 1990, removes barriers to timely screening, treatment and supportive care.

To earn certification, the representatives participated in a course at the Institute, which emphasizes the Harold P. Freeman Patient Navigation Model, as well as information on how participants can tailor the program to meet their organization’s specific needs.

I can’t thank your navigators enough! Many women who I have been blessed to meet here at our practice have had such high praises for BCRC staff. These navigators have eased much of the anxiety faced by so many. I can’t thank you enough for adding that special “TLC” that many many women facing breast cancer need. I look forward to many more of my folks being referred and telling me their success stories! Keep up the wonderful work you do.
