Firefighters Donate to Breast Cancer Resource Centers

The Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas accepted a check for $4,500 on Tuesday from the Georgetown Association of Professional Firefighters. The donation was a result of money raised from the Pink Heals Tour stop in Georgetown this fall. Georgetown firefighters raised money through the sale of 1,000 special Pink Heals T-shirts.

Pictured are, front row left to right: Katie Romero, Maggie Bishop, Laura Ornelas, and Christina Nicholls, members of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority at Southwestern University. ZTA was a co-sponsor of the Pink Heals Tour stop.

Back row left to right: Vivian Smith, executive director, BCRC; Lorraine Petko, volunteer, BCRC; Marjorie Gallece, patient navigator, BCRC; Wayne Braun, president, GAPFF; Debra Klaus, Georgetown Fire Department; Carina Reason, human resources, City of Georgetown; Shelly Hargrove, main street manager, City of Georgetown; and Rachel Rull, office of Williamson County Commissioner Pct. 3 Valerie Covey.

Cancer survivors from the community attended the tour stop event and gathered for a group photo.

Organizers are already planning for next year. The national Pink Heals Tour returns to Georgetown on Friday, October 15, 2010.
