Breast cancer had long-reaching effect on survivor 11-2-2009

Last March, six-year Williamson County resident Paula Nelson discovered she was the newest member of a club she didn’t expect to ever have to join: The group of women battling breast cancer.
As an ER nurse, Nelson knew all too well that her life had been turned upside-down the moment she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
“It had been 18 months since my last mammogram and [I] was actually out riding my horse,” she said. “I had gone on a long ride and was rubbing my sides when I felt a lump on my left breast.”
