About Phyllis
Phyllis found a lump in the beginning of 1984. She immediately went to the doctor but was not diagnosed until December with invasive ductal carcinoma at the age of 26. She elected to have a mastectomy, underwent 7 months of CytoxanMethotraxate/5FU chemotherapy and two months of radiation. In March of 1986 she elected to have a prophylactic mastectomy on her left breast and a bilateral latissimus flap reconstruction. She was inspired by an article she read about the services the BCRC provided and feels blessed to have been able to volunteer in different capacities over the years with them. She was grateful to accept the position of Director of Volunteer Services when the position became available. With a career background in sales, she was the perfect fit for the position of Physician Communication Coordinator where she works to educate the medical community about the BCRC’s many services and encourages them to refer their newly diagnosed patients to us. Phyllis is grateful to her family and friends for their incredible support and encouragement over the years—especially her mom, Camille, and her sister, Kelly, who she calls her angels.
