About Barbara
Barbara was diagnosed in December of 2001 with invasive ductal carcinoma at the age of 46. Since she was Stage 1, her tumor was 1.8 cm, and sentinel lymph nodes tested negative, she opted to have a lumpectomy. After surgery, she underwent four rounds of Adriamycin/Cytoxan chemotherapy, followed by 7 weeks of radiation. Shortly after being diagnosed, Barb was introduced to the BCRC by a friend who was on the Board of Directors. She was so impressed by this incredible organization that she began volunteering, joined the Board herself, and over the past five years served as Secretary, Vice-President, and finally President of the Board in 2007. Upon her recent retirement from IBM after 31 years, Barb has been able to apply her extensive skills and experience as Director of Marketing and Events Deployment.
