About Alice
In 1992, Alice was diagnosed with stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma and chose a modified radical mastectomy with simultaneous latissimus flap reconstruction. At the time of her diagnosis, she was Producing Artistic Director of Zachary Scott Theatre Center. When the BCRC opened over Whole Foods, her husband Nigel volunteered to help set up the computers and she volunteered first as a trainer for speakers and later as a member of the Board of Directors. In 2001, Alice was honored to become the Executive Director of the BCRC and in 2008 she transitioned to being Director of Grant Development—a position she now enthusiastically embraces. Being part of the BCRC is extraordinarily rewarding because every day it is providing an astonishing level of service while being a learning organization—with every client served the spirit and mission of the BCRC expands and strengthens. Alice now works from home in Elgin. She and Nigel have one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Wells Mason, and two grandchildren, Addie and Griff. Besides the BCRC and her family, Alice has a passion for Galveston Island; if you are travelling that way, she has tips!
