About the BCRC
A community that understands and information that empowers.
Beginning as a grassroots organization in 1995, BCRC staff and volunteers have served more than 20,000 people affected by breast cancer, providing real-world services that change lives for the better.
Improving quality of life for our clients, we deliver services that extend beyond clinical treatment with proven results in timely diagnosis, treatment compliance, and transition to survivorship and beyond.
BCRC services are provided by trained Patient Navigators that are breast cancer survivors themselves and have achieved certification as lay patient navigators by the New York-based Dr. Harold P. Freeman Patient Navigation Institute. The Freeman Institute’s training serves as the gold standard in lay patient navigation. Five of the BCRC Certified Patient Navigators have also completed in-depth science training through Project LEAD, the National Breast Cancer Coalition’s premier science training program.
In addition to the support and guidance offered by our Certified Patient Navigators, our services include one-on-one consultations through all phases of treatment and survivorship, as well as a library of useful and vetted information. We enable and support our clients to become active, knowledgeable participants in their healthcare.
BCRC is affiliated with five different hospital systems in Central Texas and has extensive connections within other national and local support organizations that address both medical and non-medical needs.
Our vision: The purpose of BCRC is to ensure that no one faces breast cancer alone. Through effective patient navigation, BCRC provides support, information and resources to all those affected by breast cancer.
